Discovery. Design. Details.

Jane Henderson, principal at Jane Henderson Interiors entered the world of interior design through fashion and design and pursued the latter.  Arriving in Ann Arbor in 2015 after senior design positions with firms in greater New York City and Pittsburgh, PA, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to create her own design studio with a view of Michigan Stadium. Her passion is creating stylish, curated and layered spaces that tell her client’s story.

1st Place - Bar

This home bar is perfect for entertaining, game nights, or enjoying a nightcap. Open shelving made of brass and glass provides a place to display bottles, glassware, and decorative objects. A slatted wood wall draws together the differing design elements and connects the main bar with the game table area, where arched wall accents nod to the curved shape of the barrel-back counter stools.

1st Place - Fireplace

To bring a modern, maximalist style to a dated space, no surface was left untouched. A surround of dimensional tile with inlaid brass by Alison Rose for Artistic Tile provides a dramatic focal point, while a floor-to-ceiling tile application with curvy vertical lines draws attention to the double-height ceilings. Ceramic balls serve as an alternative to traditional fireplace logs, and brass accessories complement the stone’s graceful curves.

For art that’s affordable and à la mode, think outside the gallery, advises Ann Arbor, Mich., designer Jane Henderson. Available in patterns ranging from preppy equestrian to riotously psychedelic, Hermès’s silk scarves have symbolized the good life since production began in 1937. Framed simply and displayed boldly, as Ms. Henderson did below, the objet radiates status. Nab a new one for about $500—or eye online auction houses and reputable resale sites like the RealReal for vintage motifs for as little as $150.
